Q: “Who the hell is Bryan Murphy?”
A: Me! I’m just some ordinary guy living in New York City, wanting to do something unique - involving the entire population of Manhattan.
————
Q: “Where did you come up with the idea for the “Find Bryan Murphy Project”?
A: The idea was actually inspired in many different ways, explained in the following rambling and abstract manner:
Initially, I wanted to get off my ass and do something unique and creative. Something fun. Something I could devise and totally manage by myself, yet something I could share with many other people (in this case, the entire population and island of Manhattan).
Something I could create, explore and learn from. Something people would think was fun, cool and want to take part in.
Something unique: part performance art, part blogger experience, part social experiment, part project management, part creative endeavor and part fun and exciting.
Here’s an idea! Start small. Have people visit your blog – learn about you – and try to find you one day while you’re out in New York City!?
Sort of like a giant, interactive, real life game of “Where’s Waldo?”, but with a different name to avoid any copyright infringement lawyers. (We New Yorkers LOVE to sue each other)
How much buzz could I generate? Who would get involved? How far could I take it? Who would I meet? Who would come out and find me? How much fun would I have? How small could I start this and how big could it get? How do you manage a project like this? How hard would it be to pull this off? How many questions could I possibly ask myself rhetorically?
If I started this project - what would happen?

Q: “What do you do for a living?”
A: I work in advertising as an Art Director. I’m also an aspiring writer.

Q: “What makes me think you won’t just tell your friends where you’re going to be and give them the cool stuff Yahoo! gave you? That’s what I would do!”
A: Well, that’s not what I would do – it’s pretty lame and not in the spirit of what this project is all about. I’m keeping the starting point and certain aspects of the project on the DL to retain the integrity of the “winning” aspect of the project.
I invite any and all people to look for me on July 22nd: friends, acquaintances and strangers alike. You all have the same chance to recognize me – look for the doofus with the weird hair in the green shirt that says “Bryan” on it!
I sincerely consider this entire project “cool stuff” - the rewards a really great way to get people out, excited and another great reason to keep an eye open - not to hook my friends up.
I do have some trusted “Friends of the Find Bryan Murphy Project” that are directly helping me out – they share my passion for the project and it’s integrity. They have also been sworn to secrecy during an honor ritual in which they sacrificed a live virgin to prove their loyalty!
YES!! – THEY SACRIFICED A LIVE VIRGIN TO PROVE THEIR LOYALTY!
If they tell anyone where I’m going to start - I’ll just tell everyone they all killed that live virgin and drank her blood. They will then go to jail.

Q: “C’mon, this is just some marketing campaign by Yahoo! - you work for them, right?
A: No, I do not work for Yahoo! – but I wish I did!
Any company that would embrace and support an idea like this must be balls out awesome to work for!
I approached Yahoo! for some help in getting the word out about my project (via their site) My thinking, they give my project a news mention and I would have sex with their entire company.
They sincerely appreciated my project idea and genuinely wanted to see me succeed with it – unfortunately, sans the entire company sex.
They have been astonishingly supportive of my project and totally hands off.
I will now go on record to say Yahoo! fucking rocks!
And I’ll say Penis!!, Vagina!!, Anus!!, Butt Sex!!, Fuck!!, Shit!!!!!
See, if I worked for Yahoo! – I’d be fired right now! Who in legal at Yahoo! would ever approve language like that?!
It’s naive to say Yahoo! wouldn’t share in any buzz this creates – but that is part of my ambitions - get people interested, get people excited and get people talking!
I will name my firstborn Murphy child “Yahoo!” in honor of their sincere love and support.
Well, don’t hold me to that…
Seriously, Yahoo! has made this project even more special and have been truly amazing.
Thank you Yahoo!

Q: “Is Yahoo! really repositioning a satellite to look down at you?”
A: As of this moment, I’d have to say the answer is “no”. But, the fact that that idea was seriously considered for me is one of the greatest things ever.
