Please help

The man in the chair in the above photo is dead.

I am deeply, deeply disturbed by what I am seeing on TV right now, and the stories I’m hearing coming out of New Orleans. I cannot imagine having to provide for my family and absolutely no way to do so. No food. No Water. Nothing.

I feel a deep sense of anguish thinking about what those people are experiencing right now. What is happening at the Superdome and the convention center is dire. It’s filthy, lawless, no food or water and people are starting to die. I hate to say it, but I’m sure many more are going to in the days to come.

I hope to see supplies start to arrive soon, very soon. Here’s a link for donations to the American Red Cross. Or call 1-800 HELP NOW (1-800-435-7669.) Please, please donate. It’s a small way to help.

I cannot believe the misinformation people down there received and lack of immediate response. I cannot believe Condi Rice was at a play in NYC the other night and not dealing with this. I cannot believe we’re not helicoptering in food and water nonstop to the thousands at the Superdome. They say they stopped efforts because someone desperate and confused fired a shot at one of the helicopters. What?!?! We have helicopters in Iraq getting shot at daily - did we ground the whole airforce because of that? And F the gas prices rising, I’ll pay $10 a gallon to see these people are not going to die. It seems police and national guardsmen are unfortunately dealing with looting and not creating a supply chain.

“The federal government just heard about these people today”. This what the head of FEMA just said on live TV when questioned about the “delayed response”. It’s Thursday night at 7:14 pm. They knew the storm was coming. People have been without food and water for 3 days. You mean to tell me there was no worst case contingency plan?

I know this is a disaster of epic proportions - but that’s the best you have to say to America, and all those helpless people down south?

The above images are very disturbing to me. I wish I could do more to help those people just struggling to survive.

> I just watched FOX news later tonight. One of the reporters was on the road that refugees are walking - miles through the heat with no supplies - across New Orleans to the Superdome, hopefully for aid and transport to camps in Texas. He showed a body of someone that died along the way that people left behind. He said there’s hundreds of scenes like this across the city.

I keep wishing that what I’m seeing is just a bad dream.

Maybe this is a wake up call to ALL people that it’s not about “things” and financial net worth that matter in this world. Its the world itself and the people that inhabit it. For without the people there would be no need for the money or things.

  3. Maybe Bush just doesn’t care. I know it sounds childish, but all he can fucking think of is the economy, and then he goes and wastes your country’s money on war and pride; the failed trip to Mars had nothing to do with science, it was the title for America that he wanted. And now the poor, black -may I add- Americans have been stranded without food or evn water! I feel very sorry for your country’s suffering due to this Leader. Imagine; you survive Katrina, you survive the floods, and then you die of thirst, man that is screwed up.
